The author, who has been with their wife for six years and has a three-month-old daughter, has been dealing with severe depression due to the incarceration of their brother. They helped their mother get into therapy six months ago, but she has been visiting less frequently. Recently, her mother has a boyfriend and only visits once or twice a week, not staying for more than an hour. The author’s wife still hates this behavior, but she is willing to change it.
A few days ago, the mother showed up in hysterics, causing her to panic and hyperventilate. The author tried to wake her up but she kept saying “5 more minutes” and turned away. The wife was upset and decided to leave the situation. She left for a hotel, stating she wouldn’t return until the author stopped contact with her mother and cut the umbilical cord. The author’s wife is now considering leaving the situation.
