Bullies Seized Her Seat, So She Sat on One: They Never Tried Again
When the storyteller was 11 years old, they faced bullying on the school bus from a group of older kids. Despite their young age, the storyteller describes themselves as fierce, fiery, and assertive, even before being diagnosed with autism. The bullying occurred during their first year of high school, with the bullies being in their final year, around 15 or 16 years old.
The storyteller’s usual seat on the bus was at the back, which was also claimed by the older kids who smoked there. Despite the smoking and unpleasant comments, the storyteller stood their ground and refused to give up their seat. One day, when there wasn’t enough space for all the bullies, they attempted to force the storyteller out of their seat. Despite insults and even the shocking use of profanity, the storyteller remained resolute.
Things escalated when the bullies took the storyteller’s schoolbag and threw it down the length of the bus. Despite having to retrieve their bag, the storyteller refused to yield their seat. When one of the bullies took the storyteller’s seat upon their return, the storyteller issued a bold ultimatum: either move or they would sit on her lap. The bully didn’t take the threat seriously, leading to the storyteller following through and sitting on her lap, prompting her to quickly vacate the seat.
Despite further insults, the bullies never again attempted to force the storyteller out of their seat. The storyteller, also described as a little teacher’s pet, reported the incident to the teachers once at school, emphasizing the importance of standing up to bullies regardless of age or size.
When certain students try to assert dominance at school and mistreat others, it can be incredibly frustrating.
That’s when it’s important to stand up to bullies, even if it means taking bold actions.
Read on to see how one student stood her ground when a group of bullies tried to take her seat.
Of course the bullies had established territory…
Good for you! Stick it to the man.
I hope there wasn’t anything breakable in there.
A classic, basic tactic of a bully.
A legend is born.
Victory!
They never tried to get me to leave my seat again.
Let’s see what people in the comments said about this story.
Gross, but effective. Bullies pick on people they think won’t fight back.
I didn’t have to take the bus to school, so I can’t comment. But one would hope!
I don’t know why so many kids are like this.
If you know someone is being bullied, have their back.
Bad memories stick with you.
