These Hollywood Stars Had Major Wardrobe Mishaps on the Red Carpet

Everyone Had to Navigate Around Rihanna’s Long Dress

If you’ve ever watched a Hollywood award ceremony, then you know it’s not uncommon to see someone wearing a gown that flows down to the floor and beyond. These are often stunning, but they come with their own set of problems as well. This photo was taken at a gala and appeared to show her costars left wondering where they should put their feet.

Luckily, neither they nor Rihanna seems to be freaking out that they’re stepping on what is probably a very, very expensive dress. However, there were a few that drew attention to it after the photo was published.

Virginie Efira’s Shoes Kept Coming Untied

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival saw Virginie Efira stumble a bit when the laces on her heels came untied. As you might guess, it’s not exactly easy to reach down and retire your shoe when you’re wearing what’s probably a very expensive dress and high heels. Instead, her boyfriend Niels Schneider immediately stepped in and gave her a helping hand. This one could have ended a bit worse had he not.

She was apparently pretty appreciative because the two were spotted hanging off each other for the rest of the night. But we’d be pretty appreciative in this situation, too.

Sharon Stone’s Risky Night

Sharon Stone attended a fundraising gala in France in 2014 wearing this red gown. However, the bottom of the dress had gotten wet, and it resulted in the gown sagging to the point where the holes were almost a little too low. Luckily, this was the extent of the mishap, and the dress didn’t sag any lower. Stone also handled it like a professional and acted like absolutely nothing was going awry.

Apart from that, it’s not hard to see why she chose to wear the dress. If it had fitted correctly, then it probably would have looked fabulous on her.

Giuliana Rancic’s On-Air Gown Fiasco

Another wardrobe malfunction that happened in front of an audience, Giuliana Rancic’s ordeal, happened on camera instead of onstage. It was still probably just as unnerving. The presenter was on-air when a zipper on her gown suddenly broke, leaving her with the unenviable task of presenting an award show while trying to ensure people watching didn’t get more than they bargained for. Luckily, a costar was around to give her a hand.

Ryan Seacrest jumped in and tried to hold the dress together, even using duct tape to repair the seam. The presentation continued through all the chaos, and everyone showed poise while handling this unfortunate situation.

Ashley Graham’s Heels Weren’t Made for Walking

Ashley Graham is a talented runway model who is used to walking down the red carpet. And all that experience came in handy at the 2017 Time 100 Gala. The model had stopped to pose for a photo, but when she went to start walking again, her heel was caught in her dress, and it nearly sent her tumbling. She amazingly managed to balance herself long enough to regain her composure.

She then laughed the whole thing off and continued her walk down the carpet. Looking at those stilettos, we’re not surprised they managed to punch a hole in her dress, but we are jealous of her athletic abilities now.

Emma Stone’s Oscars Slip

Actress Emma Stone was riding high at the time of the 2015 Oscars. In addition to being up for a slew of awards, she was catching praise for her yellow dress. Of course, one tiny mishap was caught by a photographer when Stone was pulling up her dress while walking down the red carpet. The gown’s slit wasn’t even that particularly high; the photographer just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Despite this, most publications wisely chose to focus on how her dress wowed crowds for its gorgeous look instead of the inopportune photo someone had taken of her.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Clumsy Red Carpet Moment

Jennifer Lawrence is known for being a bit of a clutz and has even said so during interviews. So, it wasn’t too much of a surprise when her heels got stuck in this bright pink dress she wore to the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Lucky for Lawrence, another actor was on hand to quickly untangle her stilettos while she used him to balance herself out.

She also handled the situation pretty well and just laughed the whole thing off while her friend worked to get her shoe unstuck. That really is the definition of poise right there.

Ariana Grande’s Marilyn Moment

The 2012 Teen Choice Awards were held on an especially windy night in California. So, when Ariana Grande showed up wearing a puffy dress, things were bound to get interesting. Grande spent the majority of the night holding on to her dress and trying to prevent it from flying up into her face. However, the photos do make for a pretty cool recreation of Marilyn Monroe’s famous pose under similar circumstances.

Grande was also able to keep her pose for the entirety of the night and continued to laugh it off every time a gust of wind blew by, and she reached for her dress.

Jennifer Garner’s Little Black Dress

Jennifer Garner is a seasoned professional when it comes to Hollywood events, but she has never had a wardrobe malfunction while walking the red carpet, at least until this happened. Garner was at the premiere of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day in 2014 and talking with Steve Carell when a gust blew half her dress to the side. However, she handled the whole situation with poise.

Garner simply laughed and went on about her business, which, as we’ve seen, is the best way to handle a situation like this. She even kept giving interviews as the night went on.
