The author and their daughter, who has a sister living 2 hours away, planned to visit her sister and go out for lunch. The sister has three dogs who are her world, and the author is not ready for her daughter to be around them. The author asks her to put the dogs in another room for an hour before they go to lunch. The sister refuses, and the author decides to drive back home. The author believes the dogs are not suitable for their daughter’s age and that they will be better off with their daughter when she is older.
The author’s wife supports the no dogs around their baby rule, but the author prefers to be safe than sorry for their daughter. The author acknowledges that they received multiple texts and phone calls from their sister, but believes they were not the asshole in this situation.
