ALL IN ALL!
The author and their step daughter have been limiting their shower usage for the past four months, raising their electric bill to nearly $600 a month. The daughter showers twice a day, once before school and once around 5pm, and stays in there for 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes every time. The husband takes two showers a day, once before work and once immediately following work, and comes home at 6.
The author has been growing resentful because she has tried to bathe the daughter or do the dishes without hot water. Recently, the husband’s hours were cut to half the time he usually had, causing financial responsibilities to be 80% on the author’s shoulders. The author has been unable to shower twice without the baby since they moved in, and the husband’s showers usually don’t exceed 20 minutes. The author is now staying at their mom’s with the baby, and the step daughter is now in the same school.
