‘I’m still healing’ everything Meghan Markle has said on the Princess Kate feud & no, she never had to sign anything

They both married into the royal family, but honestly, Meghan Markle and Princess Kate’s rumored feud still feels pretty icy. No real warm-up happening there.

Meghan recently gave a tiny peek into what’s really going on between them during her chat with a writer from The Cut. The journalist visited her and Prince Harry at their £12 million Montecito home.

During the chat, Meghan, 43, casually mentioned that the palace never made her sign anything to keep quiet about her royal life.

She said, “It’s interesting, I’ve never had to sign anything that restricts me from talking. I can talk about my whole experience and make a choice not to.”

So yeah, according to her, there’s no NDA, no silence clause, nothing. Just her choosing what to share.

Then the reporter asked the big question — why doesn’t she say more about her time as a working royal with Prince William, Princess Kate, and the rest of the family?

She simply replied: “Still healing.”
Short, kinda heavy, and honestly says a lot without saying much.

‘Wonderful’ Kate

Meghan and Kate are rumored to have had a pretty bumpy relationship, even though things started off kinda warm and friendly.

Back when Meghan and Harry announced their engagement, they sat down for that big BBC interview with Mishal Husain at Nottingham Cottage, their cozy little place on the Kensington Palace grounds.

In that interview, Meghan talked really sweetly about the Royal Family. She praised The Queen, and she even called Kate “wonderful” for being so welcoming.

Harry talked about how there was this little stretch of time when he and Meghan kept their relationship super low-key. No headlines. No chaos. Just them.

He said Prince William was really eager to meet Meghan — like actually excited.

Harry explained: “William was longing to meet Meghan and so was Catherine. Since they were our neighbours, we managed to get that in quite a few times now, and Catherine has been absolutely—”

You can almost feel where he was going with that — the whole friendly, supportive sister-in-law vibe.

Meghan cut in before Harry could finish and jumped in to call Kate “wonderful.”
It sounded warm, but things clearly weren’t that simple.

Meghan later opened up about how different things felt behind the scenes — especially the whole formality vibe between her and Kate. In the Harry & Meghan Netflix doc, she explained:

“Even when Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her for the first time, I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was barefoot. Like, I’m a hugger, I’ve always been a hugger. I didn’t realise that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.”

She went on to say she didn’t know the formality people see in public with the royals also shows up in private.
She said she expected those royal rules to kinda fade once the door closed… but nope.

“I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside… that formality carries over on both sides and that was surprising to me.”

Meghan ‘in tears’
Harry and Meghan had that dreamy Windsor wedding in May 2018 — picture-perfect on the outside, but yeah… there was some serious drama behind the scenes.

Right before the big day, reports came out saying Meghan and Kate had a tense moment that ended with someone in tears. The story floating around was that they clashed over the flower girls’ dresses, and royal insiders claimed the whole fitting was so stressful that Kate ended up shaken and crying.

But then Meghan sat down with Oprah for that explosive, high-rating interview — the one that basically broke the internet.

When Oprah asked if Meghan made Kate cry, Meghan shut it down fast:
“No, no, the reverse happened.”

She wasn’t trying to drag Kate, though. She explained Kate was upset, took responsibility, sent flowers, and even wrote a note apologising. Meghan said, “She did what I would do if I hurt someone.”

Still, the whole thing hurt her deeply, and she called it a “turning point” in their relationship. Meghan didn’t want to expose every detail because Kate apologised, and she said she’d forgiven her.

But here’s the part that really stung Meghan — it wasn’t the dress drama itself. It was the silence from the palace when false stories came out blaming her for making Kate cry. No correction. No support. Nothing.

Meghan claimed there was a difference between how formal she and Kate were behind closed doors

She told Oprah, “What was hard to get over was being blamed for something not only I did not do, but that happened to me.”

‘Baby brain’
Harry spilled even more tea in his memoir Spare, and yeah… this part did not help the peace-and-harmony vibe between Meghan and Kate.

He wrote about a moment when things got tense over the phone while they were sorting out wedding rehearsal stuff. Meghan casually said Kate must have “baby brain,” since she’d just had a child.

Kate didn’t take it well.
She supposedly snapped back: “We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones.”

And honestly, you can see why it hit a nerve. During all three of her pregnancies, Kate dealt with hyperemesis gravidarum — extreme nausea and vomiting caused by major hormone changes. Super tough, super personal.

Harry said Kate was upset, but Meghan apologised and explained that’s just how she talks with her friends — kind of playful, not meant as an insult.

Lip gloss snub
Harry also mentioned another awkward little moment — honestly the kind of thing that feels small but gets blown up because… well, royal life.

He wrote that Meghan once asked Kate if she could borrow her lip gloss because she forgot hers. Totally normal for most people, right?
Harry called it “an American thing,” like something super casual Meghan would do without thinking twice.

He said Kate looked a bit surprised, but she still dug into her handbag and handed over a small tube.
Meghan squeezed some onto her finger and put it on her lips.
Kate apparently grimaced.
And boom — another tiny spark added to the long-running Meghan–Kate tension.

Will Meghan make peace with Kate?

During her chat with The Cut, Meghan was asked the big question: is there any chance of making peace with Kate and the rest of the royal family?

Meghan’s answer was calm, almost reflective.
“I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive. But it takes a lot of effort to forgive.”

Meghan added, “I’ve really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything. I have a lot to say… until I don’t. Do you like that? Sometimes, as they say, the silent part is still part of the song.”

Kind of a mic-drop line, honestly.

A timeline of Prince Harry’s family feud

Here’s how the whole royal drama slowly heated up over the years — the stuff that still drives tons of royal family searches, celebrity news, and all those juicy discussions like Meghan Markle updates, Prince Harry feud, and UK royal controversy.

2018 — The first crack

Back in 2018, The Sun reported “simmering tension” between the brothers.
It apparently started when William questioned how fast Harry and Meghan were moving in their relationship.

After William first met Meghan at Kensington Palace, Harry was totally smitten. But once she flew back to Canada, William sat Harry down for a “brother chat” and basically said, “Slow down.”

Harry didn’t love that. One source even said he “went mental.”

2019 — The charity split

By June 2019, Harry and Meghan officially split from the Royal Foundation they had shared with William and Kate.
The charity — once a big joint project — was split so both couples could focus on their own causes.

William and Harry founded the Royal Foundation in 2009. Kate joined after her engagement, and the three of them were like the “core team,” pushing big projects like the Invictus Games and Heads Together.

Even though the Foundation said the split came after a review, the public saw it as another sign of tension.

Moving out of Kensington Palace

Harry and Meghan had been living super close to Wills and Kate at Kensington Palace. Then they moved to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor right before Archie was born.

Cue more rumors of a fallout.

Harry hints at a rift

Later, in the ITV doc “Harry and Meghan: An African Journey,” Harry admitted he and William were “on different paths.”
Which… yeah, didn’t exactly calm the headlines.

2021 — Oprah bombshell

Then came the Oprah interview — the giant moment that blew the feud wide open.
Harry said his dad cut him off financially, and Meghan opened up about the royal institution in a way nobody had ever heard before.

Diana statue — awkward reunion

Harry returned to the UK in 2021 to unveil Princess Diana’s statue with William.
But insiders said William didn’t actually want to go because tensions were still so high.

2022 — Kate the ‘peacemaker’

Right before the Queen passed away, reports claimed Kate was acting as a “peacemaker” between the brothers.
Even then, things were far from smooth.

The physical fight

In Spare, Harry dropped one of his biggest claims:
William allegedly called Meghan “rude” and “difficult” and then physically attacked him during an argument.

Harry said William grabbed him by the collar, ripped his necklace, and knocked him to the floor. He said he ended up with a back injury from the fall.

2024 — More distance

This year, Harry flew to the UK after King Charles’ cancer diagnosis — but he left the next day without seeing William.

Then in May, he came back again for a three-day visit… still didn’t see Charles or William.

And that’s where things stand — a long, messy history of misunderstandings, pressure, royal protocol, media chaos, and family stuff that just never really healed.
