ALL IN ALL!

The author has two daughters, Emma and Lizzie, who moved across the country to start a family. Emma attended college and got a job, and she is now married with a 2-year-old son. The author did a lot of the “mother of the bride” tasks via FaceTime due to her work schedule and financials. She flew in to help with Emma’s induction and stayed two weeks after her baby was born.

Lizzie moved back to her town after graduating, and the author was able to physically be there for her wedding and baby shower. She also watched the baby for her parents and took him on outings with her. However, after returning home, Emma didn’t reach out or respond to the author’s attempts at contact for two weeks. She realized how much the author did for Lizzie and her husband and that she didn’t visit her enough.

The author is proud of Emma’s accomplishments and supports her move, but she is aware of the author’s situation. She refuses to talk about anything deeper than her day-to-day life and the baby. Her father, who lives closer to her, believes the author should have let her keep laying into her.
