‘AITA for not being supportive to a friend with a sick kid?’
ALL IN ALL!
A 44-year-old medical doctor is often called for medical advice due to their profession. They have a strong pro-vaccine viewpoint, believing that vaccination has eradicated many deadly diseases. One of their friends, who doesn’t vaccinate her kids, calls them to ask if they have polio. The doctor advises her to vaccinate her kids, but the friend is scared of the idea. The doctor advises her to consult an infectious disease specialist, as she believes polio was eradicated through vaccination. The friend is upset and hangs up, indicating that their tone was condescending. The doctor acknowledges that they may have been a bit condescending and a bit of an AH talking to a scared mom.
Well, looks like OP is NTA. But could he have handled this situation differently?
